Privacy Policy

Asma. Last updated 18 October 2026.

Asma has no accounts, no advertising and no tracking. Almost everything stays on your device. Two small things reach our own server: gifts, and, unless you turn it off, a daily count of which parts of the app were opened, with nothing in it that could tell us who you are.

What stays on your device

Everything you create in Asma is written to your iPhone or iPad and never leaves it except through your own iCloud device backup, if you have one enabled:

Deleting the app deletes all of it. We cannot see any of it, recover it, or restore it for you.

Your location

Asma asks for your location only to work out prayer times and the direction of the qibla, and it does that on your device. Your location is never sent to us or to anyone.

Anonymous usage counts

To learn which parts of Asma are used, the app keeps a tally on your device of a fixed list of things, such as opening a Name, the prayer times or the dhikr counter, marking a prayer missed, or opening the gift screen. Once a day is over, it sends that day's tally to our server with only three other things: the date, the app's version, and roughly how long ago Asma was first opened on the device (for example "between one and two weeks").

Gifts

You can buy Asma Pro for someone else. The purchase is made through Apple. Our server checks with Apple that the purchase is real and makes a link for you to send. When the person you sent it to opens the link, their copy of Asma makes up a random number to stand for them, and the server gives them their gift. For each gift the server keeps:

It keeps no names, email addresses, phone numbers or Apple IDs, for either person. If a gift is refunded, Apple tells our server, and the gift stops working.

Purchases

Asma Pro and gifts are sold through Apple's In-App Purchase. Apple processes the payment. We never see your name, your payment details or your Apple ID. Apple's handling of that transaction is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Our server

Our server runs on Cloudflare. Like any website, it sees the network address a request comes from, as part of receiving it; we do not record or keep those addresses. There is no analytics service, crash reporting service or advertising SDK in the app.

Notifications

Reminders and prayer time notifications are scheduled on your device by your device. No notification is sent from a server, and nothing about them is reported anywhere.

Links out of the app

Quran references open quran.com and hadith references open sunnah.com in your browser. Those are separate websites with their own privacy policies. Asma sends them nothing about you beyond the verse or hadith you tapped.

Children

Asma is suitable for all ages. It collects nothing that identifies anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will appear at this address with a new date, and anything newly added will be described plainly here first.
